Try using another envelope size
Recent changes in the postal rate have dramatically increased the cost of postage. The cost of mailing a standard 9x12 envelope weighing 1 oz. or less increased from .39 to .80, an increase of 100 percent.
To reduce the costs of mailing, consider one of these alternatives.
- Standard #12 Envelope Measuring 4 3/4 x 11
- Standard #14 Envelope Measuring 5 x 11
- A 6 x 9 or 6 x 9 1/2 booklet style envelope with side seams
Any of these sizes will meet the USPS specifications for letter size mail, as long as the contents weigh less than 3.5 oz. and are less than 1/4 inch thick.
